Case Assignments
This area allows you to see who is currently assigned to the case, as well as a history of people assigned to the case.
FROM THE MENU: Case, Case Assignments
FROM THE MENU: Supervision, Case Assignments
This view shows everyone who has ever been assigned to the case, with their start and end dates.
FROM THE CASE DETAIL SCREEN:
Click on the blue link assigned to the case to be taken to the LIST CASE ASSIGNMENTS screen shown above. The CASE DETAIL view only shows the people currently assigned to the case.
Get from another:
The Get from another link lets you copy the case assignments from another case. Maybe this person is getting a new case, and they already have an open case, so the new case would have the exact same probation officer, attorney, etc. Click the Get from another Link, which will take you to a Get Person Name button, which takes you to a name search. Find the person you wish to copy. This will copy ALL case assignments and put today’s date as the start date.
- Person to copy from: Find the person you wish to copy.
- Case to copy from: Select the case you wish to copy.
Click on the UPDATE button or press ALT+U to save your changes.
Add a case assignment:
- Name/ID: If you know the Quest user id of the person, you can enter that here, otherwise you will need to click GET NAME and do a name search.
- Agency: If you know the Quest user id you can skip the Agency
because Quest will pull that information from the user’s employer information. However, if the person you are adding does not have a Quest user id, you will need to select the appropriate Agency for the person you are adding. This is NOT a required field. If you are adding a victim for example, they will not have an agency.
- Role: The Role this person has in this particular case. For example, Guardian ad Litem, private attorney, victim, probation officer, witness, etc. Once again, if you are adding a person with a Quest user id, you will not need to add their role since it will look at the Person Type from the employer information section.
- Start Date: The date this person became involved in the case.
- End Date: The date this person is no longer involved in the case.
- Send notice: This area is designed for the print pending notices portion of Quest. The system can print copies of documents for parties automatically, if this is set up. If your jurisdiction is not using the print pending notices process, it doesn’t really matter what you select here. Talk to you Quest Administrator if you are unsure. See more about the pending notice process.
- Represents: Select the person they represent, if applicable. Public defenders, private attorneys, or a Guardian ad Litem would be a yes, as they represent one of the parties.
Click on the UPDATE button or press ALT+U to save your changes.
End case assignment:
Click on the ROLE of the person you wish to end.
Go to the End Date and put in the date the person is no longer involved in the case.
Click on the UPDATE button or press ALT+U to save your changes.
