Detention Wellness Checks
By leveraging Quest for 15-minute bed checks and logbook documentation, detention centers can enhance operational efficiency, maintain compliance with regulations, and ensure the safety and well-being of detainees. Here’s how it would work:
Accessing the Detention List:
Menu | Detention | Detention List
From the Detention List, select the specific location or pod you wish to monitor
Click the “Submit” button to limit the list to only that location
A list of names assigned to that location now appear with a notepad icon before each name. Click on the notepad icon to add a logbook note.
Entering the Logbook Note:
- The note will already contain the child’s name and location/room number.
- The officer then selects the behaviors observed.
- The selected behaviors will be appended to the note.
- Click the “Update” button to save the note.
Select all that apply
Ideally a detention officer would have a tablet with the detention list displayed.
- The officer stops at a specific room.
- Taps on the notepad icon beside the name of the child in that room.
- The officer observes the behavior of the child.
- The officer selects the behavior that best describes what they observed.
- Click the “Update” button to save the log note.
- Once the observation and recording process for the current room are complete, the officer moves on to the next room by selecting it from the detention list and repeating the steps outlined above for each subsequent room.
Using the radio to communicate with a command center for data entry is a practical alternative if tablets are not allowed on the floor of the pod. By utilizing the radio communication system to relay observations to the command center for data entry, the detention center can maintain accurate records of children’s behaviors and ensure compliance with wellness check protocols, even without tablets on the floor of the pod.
Review Log Book Entries
Menu | Detention | Log Books
To review all wellness checks within a specific date range:
- Select the appropriate logbook designated for wellness checks.
- Navigate to the section or feature where entries for wellness checks are recorded.
- Specify the date range you want to review.
- Scan through the entries made within that date range to ensure wellness checks were performed at regular 15-minute intervals.
If additional notes are needed to describe any incidents or behaviors observed during a wellness check:
- Locate the entry corresponding to the date and time of the incident or behavior.
- Click on the date/time of the entry to access the details.
- Add more notes or descriptions to provide additional context about the assaultive behavior or any other relevant information.
By following these steps, you can demonstrate that wellness checks are indeed conducted at the required 15-minute intervals and provide additional details as necessary to document any incidents or observations during these checks.
